USS Frank Cable AS-40 >>
My first command was this Submarine Tender, stationed in Charleston, SC. Pictured here with all her babies, one can only imagine how busy 'Mama Cable' and her crew were, 7x24x365! It may not look it in this pix, but trust me... that pier was LOOOONG! Braggin' Rights: I was the first 3rd Class Petty Officer (on 'The Cable') to become a Radio Supervisor! The norm was you had to be at least 2nd Class P.O.
Rate/Rank: RM2/E-5 Position: Radio Communications Supervisor Tour: 03/1989 - 06/1992 |

<< USS Mt. Whitney LCC-20 Flagship for Commander, Second Fleet
While homeported in Norfolk, VA, I was attached to C2F staff embarked on the USS Mt. Whitney. As the floating communications platform for the Atlantic Fleet, we were the first to get all the new toys! Tour included numerous Fleet, Joint Task Force, and NATO Exercises, not to mention real-world situations! Braggin' Rights: I was the first enlisted female to check onboard a combatant ship! Yeah me!
